How To Run Windows On Mac

Instead of buying a new computer unit to run Windows, it might be best to learn how to run Windows on Mac instead. There two different ways to run both operating systems in one computer.

You can decide to run Windows within Mac or outside of it. Run Windows Outside of Mac For this option, you need a Mac OS 10.5 or later and a stand-alone copy of Windows XP or later.

You need Boot Camp for this operation as well. Fortunately, this software comes free as part of the Apple Technology.

With Boot Camp, you get to choose between the two operating systems during start-up. Running Windows using this option provides better performance and more efficient use of the computers system resources.

It is easy to install the Windows operating system with Boot Camp. Simply open Folder then navigate through the Applications folder, then through the Utilities Folder to find Boot Camp Assistant.

Once open, you have the option to print the Installation and Setup Guide which will help you through the entire installation process. As a reminder, never forget to back up all files in your computer before you begin the installation.

Running Windows Within Mac You can also run Windows within Mac through virtualization. If you need to access Windows-based files on a regular basis, you can do so without having to reboot your computer every time you need to.

This is possible through the use of virtualization software like VirtualBox, VMWare Fusion, or Parallels desktop. VirtualBox is free, has fewer features, but still provides great functionality and performance.

Parallells and VMWare are paid applications, but do provide better user-friendliness and features as well as technical support. Which option you decide to choose to run Windows will depend on how often you access Windows-based files.

Either way, you will still get access to both Mac and Windows operating systems without having to buy a new computer unit.
