Install Windows On MacIn September of 2011 WIndows 8 was released for PC users. However, if you were a Mac user you probably wanted to see what all the fuss was about.Windows 8 is loaded with new features and fixes for bugs from WIndows 7 as well as security enhancements. Thankfully even if you have a Mac is possible to install windows on mac using a program called bootcamp. Bootcamp for Mac How Bootcamp works is that it installs a separate partition onto your computer. This essentially divides up the memory or hard drive of your computer giving most to the mac software and some to the windows software depending on how you configure it. Parallels for Mac As a Mac user you can also virtually install Windows 8 onto your computer with a program called Parallels. With Parallels you can run both Mac and Windows programs at the same time. However, Windows is not directly installed on your PC. It is virtual. In many ways it works the same as Bootcamp in that it partitions off part of your computers hard rive for the Windows memory. THe difference between the two programs is that you can run all of your mac programs on your windows desktop. It can be slow at times but the concept is fairly intriguing, especially for those who need windows applications that Mac has yet to develop. In order for Mac users to download Parallels, they can go to Parallels Desktop menu and select the "check for updates option." THis version supports Windows 7 and the Windows 8 Preview. Once you have opened the Parallels Desktop, select File, then New, and then Select Instal WIndows from the DVD or Image file option. Finally, you will select the Windows 8 ISO that you wan to have downloaded. . |
